I woke up raring to go this morning. I’d planned out my meals for the week and bought in all the food. I’ve still not quite got my head around what the ‘best’ types of foods to eat are, so I’m relying heavily on Dr Mosley’s book this week, in a bid to feel as full as possible.
I’ve enjoyed today’s meals, and I’ve been surprised about just how far 800 calories can stretch. I’ve enjoyed ingredients such as passion fruit and pomegranate, which I wouldn’t normally use in the way that the recipes suggested, and also nuts, cheese and creme fraiche, which I’d normally avoid when trying to lose weight.

Breakfast: Yoghurt with Passion Fruit and Almonds
170 calories

Lunch: Pepper with jewelled feta
220 calories
Best meal of the day – this was so tasty!

Evening meal: Pork fillet with mushrooms and creme fraiche
415 calories
We hardly ever have pork except in a stir-fry or a sausage. The sauce was really creamy and didn’t taste as a low-cal as it actually was.

I haven’t felt that I’ve missed sugar at all today, even with Daughter and Son eating sooo many snacks in front of me (or so it seems). The one thing that I have really missed is tea and coffee. I have a bit of a caffeine habit and will drink up to 10 cups a day, so it was a bit of a shock this morning to find out that I should maybe just have one cup of coffee with a very small splash of milk in it all day! The caffeine-withdrawal headache hasn’t set in yet, and I’ve been drinking loads of herbal tea instead, but I know that this may be a bit of an issue in a few days.
Sidney and I finished off the evening with a nice long walk around the park, to get me up to 10,000 steps. Again, I’m not quite sure how much exercise is advised on this plan, but thought I’d better get it done to tick all of the boxes. According to the ‘My Fitness Pal’ app, I can eat an extra 333 calories for doing some exercise, but the book says not to.
I’m planning to go to bed early with a chamomile tea and a good book tonight.
I’m thinking ahead to next week now, so if anyone has any low-calorie recipes, please let me know.
