WWW Wednesday – Wednesday, 12th May 2021

This weekly challenge is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. All you need to do to participate is to answer these three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What will you be reading next?

What I’m currently reading

So many books, so little time! I’ve been reading an ARC ebook of ‘Skyborn’, but fancied reading a paperback as well, so I’ve been a bit naughty and started reading ‘The Beekeeper of Aleppo’ at the same time. I spent about 5 hours reading it last night (on a school night too!) so will probably finish it tonight. My daughter and I are enjoying listening to an ARC of ‘The Grave Digger’ by Rebecca Bischoff in the car on our commutes to school – she’s enjoying the gruesome details whilst learning Victorian grave robbers and dissection!

What I recently finished reading

In my bid to read more MG mysteries, I read ‘Jane Austen Investigates: The Abbey Mystery’ this week. It was a clever idea, and I think that it would be great for pre-teens to read before venturing on to actual Jane Austen novels when they’re older. I also listened to and ARC audiobook of ‘Meet Me in Another Life’ , which I really enjoyed. You can read my review here. Last night, I finished listening to an audiobook of ‘The Mangle Street Murders’, which is a somewhat more tongue-in-cheek version of Sherlock Holmes.

What I’ll be reading next

I sneaked a few to the top of the TBR pile last week, and now the ARC audiobook of ‘Her Last Holiday’ has been archived before I’ve had the chance to listen to it. I’ll be reading an ARC of ‘Hexed’ by Julia Tuffs next, and listening to ‘Sheltering Rain’ by Jojo Moyes. I’ll also be reading a paperback, ‘A History of Loneliness’ by John Boyne.
