Thank you to Alex at mybookworld24 for their nomination. They’ve sent me 11 questions to answer in this post, so here goes..
1. If you could swap places with a celebrity for one day, who would it be?
I’d love to see the world through Bill Bryson’s eyes for a day. He’s great at noticing all the quirky stuff that everyone else ignores, and right now, I’m envious of all his passport entries.
2. One positive thing about yourself
I can draw a line under a disagreement and genuinely move on from it straight away. I think that people sometimes think I’m two-faced, as I’ll be annoyed with them one minute, then acting like nothing’s ever happened the next, but it’s genuine. It’s a coping mechanism, I guess, as it stops me hanging on to all that negativity that can arise from little things. However, if you keep on acting like a d*ck, then I reserve the right to grumble about you for a loooong time!
3. Candy or chocolate?
Chocolate, every time. My favourites are generally basic milk chocolate – Dairy Milk, Galaxy, Lindt – although I’m really not that fussy!
4. Favourite art medium?
So many! We’ve just spent a few nights on the Northumberland coast, and the beaches around there are stunning. I love the Yorkshire Moors for their Wuthering Heights vibe, and particularly enjoy stomping around overgrown graveyards (my family hate me for this).
I loved seeing a change of natural scenary driving down the length of New Zealand, and the giant redwood trees in Washington state were spectacular.
Over the last year or so, I’ve really appreciated my own garden and love how all the time and effort that I’ve put into it is really paying off. I’ve consciously devoted sections of it to bees this year in a bid to help them out a bit more.
6. What’s your favorite riddle?
I don’t think I have one.
7. What’s the most ironic thing you’ve seen happen?
As in Alanis Morissette? Well, let’s see… I’ve definitely seen a black fly in my Chardonnay, and not taken good advice (although I’m not sure that either of those are actually ironic). I’m always seeing a traffic jam when I’m already late. Will that do?
8. Cringy memory?
Oh blimey. I’m sure that there are thousands, but one that I share with my sister is us clearing a pub by attempting to do Mr Brightside on karaoke together after a few cocktails. Ears were bleeding.
9. Which two people would you like to see in a movie together? ( can be absolutely anybody)
I’m really not a film buff – I watch quite a lot of films with my husband, but can never remember having seen any of them (I’ve been known to suggest that we watch films that we saw a fortnight ago) and have no memory for either actors names or film plots (unless it’s based on a book).
Purely for the aesthetics, I’m going to put Audrey Hepburn (excellent clothes, poise and hair) and a young Sean Bean (too many hours spent watching ‘Sharpe’ with my dad during my formative years) together. I haven’t a clue what type of film they could possibly be in together, but I wouldn’t remember it anyway!
10. Have you ever pranked someone? If so – what did you do?
I’m hopeless at pranks. Nobody ever falls for them, even my kids on April Fools Day.
11. Suggest a one-word story theme.
Hope.

Thanks for the nomination. It may take me a while to get to this but I will. I love your answers. The one about movies was interesting. I must say, I remember movies for years, decades actually. Especially if they moved me. I can walk in a room with a movie on the TV and say the name of it immediately. That´s why I can´t watch horror as I would have nightmares for years! Audrey Hepburn was so lovely.

Thank you for the nomination! I kind of do the same thing after a disagreement. I think it’s just that I have so much anxiety that I don’t like confrontation, so I just kind of move on quickly. I’m the peace keeper in my family too. I must just be used to it.
