Top Ten Tuesday: My Bookish Wishlist

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week, we’re all looking at which books we’ll be reading this summer.

This week’s TTT post is a bit different, with book bloggers being invited to post their Bookish Wishlist and sharing it with others. Who knows, maybe somebody may even grant one of your bookish wishes, I’ll be granting a few myself!

‘Dark Places’ by Gillian Flynn

I loved both ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘Sharp Objects’, and I’ve heard some great things about this novel, which first came out in 2009. The premise sounds pretty frightening, but I love a good whodunnit, and Flynn has proved herself as queen of psychological thrillers.

‘The Guest List’ by Lucy Foley

This is one that has been on my TBR list for a while, and loads of bloggers have recommended it, but I’ve never actually got round to picking a copy up.

‘Backstories’ by Simon Van Der Velde

I’m completely intrigued by the idea behind this book. Each short story features a famous person before they were famous. The challenge is apparently to figure out who they are and then try to understand what makes them tick. What an original idea!

‘Mexican Gothic’ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

I’ve never been to Mexico, and this is certainly the nearest that I’ll get to it this year!

This novel is said to be a ‘mesmerising feminist re-imagining of Gothic fantasy, in which a young socialite discovers the haunting secrets of a beautiful only mansion in 1950s Mexico. It sounds great!

‘Troubled Blood’ by Robert Galbraith

I’m a huge fan of the Cormoran Strike series. I can’t wait for this latest one to be released this Thursday.

‘The Third Wife’ by Lisa Jewell

Lisa Jewell is one of my favourite authors, and I’ve read a few by her over the last few years. I haven’t read this one yet, although other bloggers have raved about it.

‘Good Bones’ by Margaret Atwood

I’ve read virtually everything by Margaret Atwood over the last 25 years, but this one seems to have slipped under my radar. It’s apparently a collection of short stories, poetry and prose inspired by fairytales. Exciting!

‘Lady Midnight’ by Cassandra Clare

I don’t normally read fantasy, but lots of book bloggers do and I feel like its about time that I gave some of it a go. Cassandra Clare is an author who keeps popping up on people’s TTT posts. I want to see what all the fuss is about!

‘Moonflower Murders’ by Anthony Horowitz

As a teacher of secondary English, I’ve long been aware of the appeal of Anthony Horowitz for children and teenagers, but the author has certainly branched further into the adult readership over the last decade. I’ve read a few of his mystery books, and really enjoyed them. This one is the next on my list.

‘11.22.63’ by Stephen King

I’ve not read anywhere enough of Stephen King’s books yet, although I loved ‘The Green Mile’ and am currently enjoying ‘Cujo’. This is another book that I’ve heard loads of bloggers talking about over the last year, and the idea of reversing time to avoid the assassination of JFK sounds fascinating.
