TTT: Ten Books with Numbers in their Title

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week, I’d like to share with you… 10 books with numbers in the title:

1. Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell

A nightmarish vision of the future in which everyone is watched by CCTV and there are even cameras in our own homes. Terrifying, mainly for the fact that so much of it has now become a reality.

2. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Teenager Wade Watts escapes from the awful reality of 2044 by jacking himself up to a computer game and striving to solve the puzzles to win the race. Little does he know the implications of his favourite game on the real world.

3. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Fireman start fires, books are outlawed, and it’s another bleak dystopian book with a number in its title!

4. One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

The story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and one four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect and everyone has something to hide.

5. The 100-Year-old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

Allan Karlsson is 100 years old and lives in a nursing home. He’s not done yet though, and one day decides to escape. It turns out that we shouldn’t overlook him because of his age, as he has led an amazing life.

6. The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime that Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater

Sasha and Richard meet on the number 57 bus… when Richard sets fire to Sasha’s skirt. This is a true tale of two teens – one black, one white and transgender – and the consequences of their choices on that fateful day.
