What I’m currently reading
Just the two at the moment! I’m reading an ARC of ‘The Department of Rare and Special Collections’ by Eva Jurczyk. I’m about halfway through at the moment – I love the setting but I’m not yet sure if there’s enough plot to drive it towards the end. I’m listening to an audiobook of ‘Malibu Rising’ by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It’s the third of hers that I’ve read this year and I find her style so sultry.
What I’ve just finished reading
Oh my word – I’ve finally finished listening to all 56 hours of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’! If I’m honest, I preferred Stephen Fry’s (much, much shorter) version of the novel, ‘The Stars’ Tennis Balls’ – review is here. It’s another classic to tick off the list though.
I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Care For Me’, a debut novel by Farah Cook, which depicts Amina doing her best to care for her mother who is living with dementia. My review is here.
I’ve also finished reading ‘If It Bleeds’ by Stephen King. This was a fabulous collection of novellas. My favourite was ‘Rat’, which is about an author who is willing to write his novel at any cost.
What I’ll be reading next
I’m trying to read and review some ARCs from NetGalley over the next few weeks. My next two are ‘<a href="http://The Girl Upstairs: An absolutely gripping psychological thriller and debut novel with a jaw-dropping twist from a stunning new voice in crime fiction“>The Girl Upstairs’ by Georgina Lees, and ‘The Last House on the Street’ by Diane Chamberlain.
Wordy Witterings 
I read The Count of Monte Cristo about twenty years ago and loved it. I am planning to listen to it on audio at some point. There’s various narrators available I noticed, so I will have a listen to all the samples and decide. 😂 Maybe next year.

I’ve joined a read along where we are reading The Brothers Karamazov, one chapter a day for 90 days. I am loving it and its a great way to read a classic that is a tad intimidating. Loving it.

That’s a great way to get through the more difficult classics – I could have done with a support group for ‘The Count of Monte Cristo!

There is something about the cover and title of The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections that got me curious. I’m going to check it out. Already I’m thinking special connections… we’ll see if I’m right. 🤪
