WWW Wednesday – 27th October 2022

This weekly post is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. All you need to do to participate is to answer these three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What will you be reading next?

It’s Spooky Season! I’ve been reading lots of horror books in October, so I thought that I’d share them with all you horror freaks out there!

What I’m currently reading

I’m reading ‘The Vanishing of Audrey Wilde’ by Eve Chase, I’m listening to ‘Wonderland’ by Zoje Stage and I’m just finishing off reading a gorgeous Penguin clothbound edition of ‘The Turn of the Screw’ by Henry James.

What I’ve recently finished reading

I enjoyed all three of these. ‘Pet Sematary’ by Stephen King is, according to the author, the one that he felt he went too far with. Based on a projected ‘what if’ of incidents from his own life, this novel is the creepiest I’ve ever read.

‘We Have Always Lived in the Castle’ by Shirley Jackson is one of those books that keeps the reader on their toes. I’ve been meaning to read this for ages and it didn’t let me down.

‘Practical Magic’ by Alice Hoffman was a bit of fun after the other two! A modern setting with witchy sisters who use their powers for their own gain.

What I’ll be reading next

A month of horror has been fun, but I’m looking forward to mixing things up a little in November. I’m thrilled to have been granted ARCs of these three beauties: ‘Mad Honey’ by Jodi Picoult, ‘Shrines of Gaiety’ by Kate Atkinson, and ‘Lady MacBethad’ by Isabelle Schuler.

So, I’m curious… what’s the best horror book that you’ve ever read?

      1. The one I read was Salem’s Lot. My uncle lent it to me because it was one of the only books that he has read! He has got a bit more into reading recently but not a lot!
